Carol A. Foos

Carol A. Foos, 90, of Fremont, OH, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026 surrounded by her family at her home. Carol was born on March 22, 1936 to Clinton and Lucinda (Smith) Camp in Norwalk, OH. She was a 1954 graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School and then went on to nursing school. Carol married Herbert Foos on July 13, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont, and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2020.

Carol dedicated many years of service as a rural route mail carrier in Vickory, OH, where she became a familiar and trusted presence in the community. She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, actively participating in parish life as a member of both the Altar Rosary Society, the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and a dedicated prayer group.

In her younger years, Carol enjoyed bowling and golf, activities that brought her much joy and camaraderie. She was also an avid seamstress, often spending time sewing outfits for her family and herself. Carol took great pleasure tending to her house plants and her husband’s flowers and garden. She cherished many years playing cards with her high school friends. Carol and her husband also loved to travel together, creating lasting memories during trips to Italy, Ireland, Austria, the Czech Republic, and many places across the United States. In 2006, she and her sister, Virginia Rich, shared a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Carol is survived by her children, Brian J. Foos, Risingsun, OH, Lynn Kavanaugh, Fremont, OH, Laura (David Moreno) Foos, Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Jordan Cantrell, Leann (Becca Ferstle) Cantrell, Serena (Ryan) Kavanaugh-Whalen, Kasper Moreno; great grandson, Oliver Whalen; sisters-in-law, Toni Camp and Elizabeth Camp.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert Foos; son, Stephen Foos; son-in-law, Howard Kavanaugh; siblings, Doris (Henry) Bonningson, Agnes (Phillip) LaPlante, Virginia (Thomas) Rich, Richard (Doris) Camp, Donald (Mary) Camp, David and Duane Camp.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 7:30 pm with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:30 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with an hour of visitation prior to Mass at church, 550 Smith Rd. Fremont, OH 43420.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
