Calvin L. Hoffman

Calvin "Cal" L. Hoffman, 79, of Fremont, OH passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1946 in Fremont, OH to Ivan and Evelyn (Berger) Hoffman. Cal was a 1965 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and then was drafted into the US Army during Vietnam War.

Cal married Linda Roosen in December 1968 and she preceded him in death in February 1993. He married Diana Saunders on July 3, 1999 and she survives. Cal worked for the Fremont Foundry and then went on to work at Eveready Battery for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1998. He had a deep appreciation for horses, finding joy in their presence and care. He was also passionate about motorcycles, often spending time riding and maintaining them. His connection to the farming community was evident, as he valued the hard work of local farmers. In addition, Cal enjoyed hunting ground hogs, an activity that brought him both challenge and satisfaction in the outdoors.

Cal is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Diana L. Hoffman, Fremont, OH; son, Kevin (Kelly) Hoffman, Bradner, OH, grandchildren, Abigail (Jeremy Brubaker) Hoffman, Burgoon, OH, Kolt Hoffman, Bradner, OH; stepchildren, Brian (Angie) Saunders and Christine Blodgett, both of Fremont, OH; brother, Melvin Hoffman, Clyde, OH; five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Linda Hoffman and nephew, Johnathan "Buzzy" Hoffman.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 2 to 4 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Military Honors will take place at the funeral home at 4 pm.

In the spirit of Cal's laid-back style, the family kindly requests that guests leave the suit and tie at home and come as you are, comfortable and casual, just the way Cal would've liked it
