Berdell “Jim” Magers, 78, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Kobacker House in Columbus, OH. He was born on November 1, 1946 in Fremont, OH to Berdell Jason Magers and Majorie Haas. Jim was a 1964 graduate of Old Fort High School. He went on to serve in the US Navy from 1967 to 1971. Jim received his bachelor's degree from Toledo University.
Jim retired in 2007 as a Nuclear Reactor Operator from First Energy after thirty-four years of service. He enjoyed operating his personal business, fishing, woodworking, running, sports, especially basketball. Jim briefly attended Defiance College where he played basketball.
Jim is survived by his sons, James (Ivonne) Magers, Columbus, OH, Nicholas Magers, St. Charles, MO, Jason Magers, Toledo, OH, Steven (Kirsten) Magers, Waterville, OH; brother, John (Debra) Magers, Chapala, Mexico; grandchildren, Liliana Magers, Kiana Magers, Madeline Magers, Helen Magers and Daniel Magers.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Patricia Buskirk, Michael Magers and Steven Magers.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday following visitation, beginning at 11:00 am at the church.
Burial will take place at Green Springs Cemetery, Green Springs, OH.
Memorials can be made in Jim’s honor to the Donor’s Choice.
