Adela Contreras

Adela Contreras, 78, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Firelands Hospital in Sandusky, OH. She was born on December 10, 1947 in Los Fresnos, TX to Francisca Barron.

Adela married Albert Contreras Sr. on November 15, 1966 in Brownsville, TX and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2010. Adela loved being a homemaker where she tended to the love and care of her family where she enjoyed cooking and baking. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Adela is survived by her children, Ricardo “Rick” (Regina) Contreras, Albert (Jamie) Contreras Jr., Tomas Contreras, David (Lani) Contreras and Kristina (Christopher) Schiffler all of Fremont; grandchildren, Michael, Madalyn, Mason, Samuel, Shiloh, Malachi, Skyler, Peyton, Parker, Katie, Eliseo, Roman, Abigail, Emma; great grandchildren, Coen, Vincent, Julian; siblings, Cecilia Reyes, Socorro Quintanilla, Juan Costilla, Alberto Saldivar, all of Texas and Calvin Reyes of Florida.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Brittney Contreras; siblings, Alvarro Rocha, Joe Saldivar and Eugene Cuellar.

There are no words to fully express the heartbreak we feel right now. Our mom was one of the strongest, most courageous, and kindhearted people we have ever known. She had a heart of gold and a love that knew no limits. She touched so many lives with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering strength.

While our hearts are completely broken, we find comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain. She is reunited with our dad, her parents, and all the loved ones who went before her. We can only imagine the beautiful reunion that took place as she was welcomed home.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by, called, texted, prayed, checked in, and supported our family through this difficult journey. Your love, kindness, and prayers have meant more than you will ever know.

Mom, thank you for your love, your guidance, your strength, and the countless memories you've given us. A piece of our heart has left with you, but we know your love will remain with us forever. Until we meet again.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 2 to 6 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Memorials can be made in her honor to Firelands Regional Medical Center.
