Norbert B. “Norb” “Sonny” Halbisen, 80, of Fremont, OH passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. He was born on December 20, 1934 in Fremont, the son of Norbert E. and Rose (Metter) Halbisen.
Norb married Mary E. (Benlein) on August 15, 1964 in Fremont and they just celebrated their fifty-first wedding anniversary. He worked as a Press Operator at Whirlpool Corporation for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1998. Norb had also worked at Clyde Motor Land, Dave’s Body Shop and Tschumy’s. He was a member of the NRA and the Sportsman Club in Gibsonburg. Norb enjoyed hunting, fishing with the grandkids, watching NASCAR and drag racing.
Norb is survived by his wife, Mary E., Fremont, OH; daughters, Pamela (Hunter) Raiford, Jacksonville, FL, Tina Belknap, Toledo, OH, Ann Marie (Greg) Meek, Fremont, OH, Amanda (David) Gebauer, Clyde, OH; mother, Rose Halbisen, Fremont, OH; sisters, Sharon Walby, Brenda (Jim) Lankford, Annie (Dick) Mowry, Theresa (Ross) Blymer, Janice Falsetti, Crystal Wilkinson; brothers, Francis “Wance”, Dennis (Karen), Edward (Aggie), James, David, Kenneth (Peggy) and Matthew (Vee) Halbisen; grandchildren, Hunter Jr., Amber, Jeremy, Erica, Michelle, Ashley and Jenna; step grandchildren, Zack and Hannah; great grandchildren, Aiden, Jase, Elijah, Alexia, Jeremy Jr., Christian, Justice, Jada and Angel; step great-grandson, Laine; sister-in-law, Fran Benlein.
He was preceded in death by his father; infant daughter, Mary Angela (1971); brothers, Paul and George and son-in-law, Scott Belknap.
Services are private for the family.
