Nancy Lou Widman

Nancy Lou Widman, 80, of Fremont, OH passed away on June 7, 2014 at Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont. She was born on March 13, 1934 in Fremont, OH the daughter of the late Walter H. M. and Dorothy M. (Myers) Smith. She was a 1952 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Nancy married Thomas F. Widman on April 21, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was the choir director for the Adult Choir and Sympathy Choir for many years. She also served on the Liturgical Committee. She loved music and played the accordion and was a vocalist in the Buckeye Valley Five band and then went to play in The Briarhoppers Band for twenty five years. She enjoyed Exhibiting at the Sandusky County Fair with her canned and baked goods where was known for her pies and growing African Violets. She was awarded many blue ribbons throughout the years.

Nancy is survived by her husband of fifty eight years Thomas Widman; children, Michael T. (Elizabeth A.) Widman, Christopher L. (Brenda M.) Widman and Shanna M. King all of Fremont and Timothy J. (Marcia) Widman, Elyria, OH; brothers, Richard L. (Kathy) Smith and Thomas W. (Nadine) Smith both of Fremont; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Amy Lou Widman; an infant sister, Eva Mae Smith; sisters, Dorothy J. “Dottie Jean” Smith and Marlene E. Williams.

Visitation: Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at church prior to the service. There will be a vigil at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, June 12, 2014; 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH with Fr. Kenneth Lill officiating.

Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont

Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Lutheran Home of Mercy, Williston, OH.
