Melvin G. Rusch

Melvin G. Rusch, 76 of Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, December, 16, 2022 at Toledo ProMedica Hospital.  He was born on January 11, 1946 in Toledo, OH, the son of Arnold and Edna (Horn) Rusch.  Mel was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School.  Mel married Betty Stoner on May 1, 1971 at the Burgoon United Methodist Church and she survives.  He worked at the Kelsey Hayes Foundry for twenty-two years until they closed.  Mel then went on to work at Brush Wellman for fifteen years and retired in 2011.  Mel is a member of Grace Community Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, watching the grandchildren and spending time with his family.  He was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns and Ohio State fan. In his spare time, Mel loved watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke.

Mel is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Betty Rusch, Fremont, OH; children, Kelly (AJ) Young, Republic, OH, Mel (Tricia) Rusch, Jr, Fremont, OH, Jennifer (Bryan) Jahna, Gibsonburg, OH; grandchildren, Madison Young, Zack Rusch, Zane Rusch, Austin Jahna, Emilie Jahna, Conrad Jahna, Connor Jahna; great grandchildren, Gracie Rusch, Scarlette VanAuken, Georgia Young and one on the way; siblings, Margaret Witte, Toledo, OH, Charlotte Braatz, Toledo, OH, Marie (Jerry) Gumbert of Pennsylvania, Mark Rusch, Clyde, OH and Mel’s dog, Cooper.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed Rusch and Mike Rusch.

The family would like to give a big Thank You to the Toledo ProMedica Hospital Progressive Floor 6 South for their wonderful care for Mel and his family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

Services will be Thursday, December 22, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church 900 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH with Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer officiating.  There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.

Burial:  Oakwood Cemetery.
