Mary E. (Fisher) Diaz, 46, of Chicago, IL passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Rainbow Hospice in Park Ridge, IL. She was born November 22, 1966 in Fremont, OH, the daughter of Joseph A. and Barbara Jeanne (Good) Fisher. Mary graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School in 1981. She graduated Valedictorian of Saint Joseph Central Catholic High School in 1985. Mary received a B.A. in English from Findlay College in 1989 and a M.A. in English from Illinois State University in 1991.
Mary married Carlos G. Diaz on February 13, 1999 and he survives. From 1995-2013 she worked as a Library Technical Assistant in the University of Illinois at Chicago library system. Mary enjoyed making digital scrap books. She loved to read and take care of her family and home.
Mary is survived by her husband, Carlos G. Diaz and daughter, Isabella Maria Diaz, both of Chicago, IL; parents, Joseph A. and Barbara Jeanne Fisher; siblings, Julie Sieving, Tamara (John) Wellman, Joe (Tasi) Fisher II, Jennifer (Scott) Leighton, all of Fremont, OH; mother-in-law, Nelly Diaz; brothers-in-law, Hector (Marci) Diaz, Arnold (Ting) Diaz; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Genevieve and Ralph Fisher, Norma and Bernard Good.
Visitation: Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH 43420 with a vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, November 15, 2013; 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith St., Fremont, OH with Fr. Frank Kehres and Fr. Kenneth Lill officiating.
Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH
