
Mary Ann Ottney, 74, of Fremont, OH passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. She was born on March 16, 1942 in Fairfield Township, OH, the daughter of Selden Strausbaugh and Mary E. (Longberry) Hoppes.
Mary Ann married Dennis “Denny” L. Ottney on March 22, 1958 in Fremont and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2012. She worked at H.J. Heinz in the Filling and Labeling Department for over thirty years and retired in 2004. Mary Ann was a member of the Fremont VFW and enjoyed cooking, gambling trips and going to the casino with the girls. She was a loving mother who helped everyone out when they were in need.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Dennis “Baldy” J. (Kim) Ottney, Danny (Rhonda) Ottney, Mark (Emily) Ottney, all of Fremont, OH, Marty Joe Ottney, Cleveland, OH, Tony Ottney, Sandusky, OH and Michelle (John) Franz, Cleveland, OH; siblings, Russell (Sue) Strausbaugh, Clyde, OH, Edna (Butch) Slane, Green Springs, OH, Betty (Joe) Spitler, Clyde, OH and Linda Strausbaugh, Euclid, OH; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis “Denny” L. Ottney; grandson, Travis Ottney.
Visitation: Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Service: Friday, April 29, 2016, 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Celebrant Susann Zimmerman officiating.
Memorials: To the family or Hospice of ProMedica Memorial Hospital, 430 S. Main St, Clyde, OH 43410.
