Mary Alice Hertzer

Mary Alice Hertzer, 85, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on March 30, 1928 in Fremont, the daughter of Robert G. and Alice C. (Mollett) Larkins. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph High School.

Mary Alice married Richard G. Hertzer on August 12, 1950 at St. Ann Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on August 13, 2011. She was a Homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Garden Club. She volunteered at the Hayes Presidential Center and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, walking, art work and reading.

Mary Alice is survived by her loving children, Sue (Jeff) Lemmon, Clyde, OH, Joseph (Vicky) Hertzer, Jacksonville, FL, Teresa (David) Metcalf, Tampa, FL, Jim (Mary Jean) Fremont, OH, Marilyn “Lyn” (Joe) Sonderman, Grand View Heights, OH; siblings, Robert G. Larkins, Lincoln, NE, Helen (Frank) Hoffman and Joan (Phil) Steinle both of Fremont, OH; son-in-law, Jerry Artz, Carey, NC; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard G. Hertzer; daughter, Kathryn Artz.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St, Fremont, OH.

A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Fr. Michael Zacharias officiating.

Burial will take place following the Mass at St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors for Richard Hertzer provided by the American Legion and VFW.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Stein Hospice, Hayes Presidential Center or St. Joseph Garden Center.
