Luella L. Tinkovicz, 91, of Fremont, OH passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Elmwood Assisted Living of Fremont. She was born March 8, 1923 at home in Ballville Twp to the late Ervin J. and Virgie (Shiets) Halbisen.

Lou graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1941. She met her husband Stan Tinkovicz of Fostoria, OH at Rainbow Gardens in Fremont and they were married at St. Joseph Church on October 30, 1948. When Stan died on July 13, 2007 they had been married nearly fifty-nine years.

Lou was a homemaker and a family person who loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed volunteering, antiquing, crafting, visiting friends and relatives in nursing homes, and playing golf for many years at The Fremont Country Club. She was very proud to share that her maiden name translated as “half iron.”

She was a member of St. Joseph Church, The Daughters of Isabella, The Marian Society, Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, Division 7 and the Sandusky County Historical Society.

Lou is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marci and Tom Reineck of Fremont; grandchildren, Emily (Robb) Shirey of Gahanna, OH; Joellen (David) Wilhelm of Olympia, WA and Matthew (Jennifer) Reineck of Portland, OR; great grandchildren, Camille and Finn Shirey, Beatrice and Fritz Wilhelm; sisters, Virginia Jennings of Sun City, AZ, Mary (Jack) Mayle of Fremont and cherished in-laws, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Stanley J. Tinkovicz, she was preceded in death by her parents; great granddaughter, Quinn Shirey; sisters, Sr. Mary Marciana, S.N.D., Rita King and brother, Ervin R. ‘Bub” Halbisen.

Her family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care Lou received at Elmwood Assisted Living of Fremont, her home for the past five years and the kind support of Hospice of Memorial Hospital.

Memorial Mass: June 27, 2014; 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a luncheon to follow in the Parish Hall.

Private Burial took place at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers please consider memorials to St. Joseph Church, Hospice of Memorial Hospital or Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools.
