
Lester R. Darr, 88, of Kentwood, MI and formerly of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Trillium Woods Hospice in Byron Center, MI. He was born on March 28, 1930 in Fremont, OH, the son of Urban F. and Hadie (Giebel) Darr.
Lester married Irene L. Woodman on May 23, 1992 in Grand Rapids, MI and she survives.
He was a truck driver for forty years in which during that time, he owned and operated his own truck, worked for Ohio Liquid Disposal, Chemical Waste Management and retiring in 1994 from Brooks Distributing. Lester was a Charter Member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of the Fremont Moose and Eagles. He enjoyed time with his children on his boat at Put in Bay, playing Euchre, dominos, fishing, and spending his winters in Florida.
Lester is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Irene L. Darr, Kentwood, MI; children, David (Paula Halbach) Darr, of Minnesota, Vicki (John) Darr-Miller, Dublin, OH, Cheri Darr-Stroempl, Fremont, OH, Deborah (Rich Doney) Darr Baker, Burgoon, OH, James (Kirstin) Darr, Sugarloaf, PA, Paula (Rick) Velez, Derwood, MD, Brian (Kimberly) Darr, Covington, LA; bonus children of Michigan, Sheryl (Bob) Vanportfliet, Susan Banfill, Tracy (David) Langerak, Patricia Banfill, Douglas (Jan) Banfill; brothers, Raymond (Dorothy) Darr, Fremont, OH and Charles (Dee) Darr, Toledo, OH; thirty three grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: Monday, January 7, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, January 8, 2019, 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420 with Fr. Chris Kardzis officiating.
