
John D. Nighswander, 79, of Lindsey, OH passed away on March 24, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 12, 1942 in Fremont, OH the son of Virgil and Irene (Young) Nighswander. He was a 1961 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. John married Susan Anstead on August 8, 1964 in Lindsey, OH and she survives. John was the co-owner of Loew and Nighswander Building Contractors Inc until he had to retire in 1990. He was a 4H advisor and enjoyed farming, fishing, going to flea markets, antiquing and playing dominos with his family.
John is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Susan Nighswander, Lindsey; children, Michael (Charlene) Nighswander, Elmore and Lori (Steve) Crispen, Lindsey; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jordan Nighswander, Travis and Clay Crispen and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve Nighswander; siblings, Darlene Norman and Dale “Eddie” Nighswander.
Visitation: Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 10 to 12 noon at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
A private memorial service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sandusky County 4H, ProMedica Memorial Hospice or Donor’s Choice.
