So many great memories of John as he grew up. He was a busy toddler and always had lots of energy. He was talented at managing money (bought and paid off two houses), but was very frugal to the point of denying himself some fun. He loved his daughter, Victoria, and grandson, Joey. He was an avid football fan and said he was a great kicker. We stopped to see him whenever we passed through Fremont, Ohio and caught up with each other over dinner. He was a talker. When his name came up on caller identification, you knew you better have an hour available to converse. He read his Bible and frequently quoted scripture. Rest in peace with your Lord and Savior and all your loved ones who have preceeded you in death.

John was a great neighbor to our family when we lived on Harmon St. He was always willing to lend a hand and kept us entertained with long chats in the back yard. He has been missed since we moved and I’m sad to hear of his passing. Rest in peace John.

I am very sad to hear this news. For 5 years i grew up down the street from John and family on Blackberry Lane. I remember him as a fun, silly, smart tween/teen. May you know loving kindness as you move through this difficult time. RIP John.

I am very saddened by the news of John’s passing. Many memories flashing through my mind. John would occasionally call and we would catch up on each other’s lives. I am so glad to know that he did have a personal Bible which I remember some years back encouraging him to have. He would share with me many deep thoughts and concerns, he needed a listening ear in more recent years. he loved his daughter Victoria and his grandson Joey very much. My deepest sympathy to each of the family members. I am sure John is resting in our Heavenly Father’s arms. Much love to you John. Aunt Patti

My cousin John rocked the athletic tube socks, terry cloth cotton gym shorts, and mesh tank top like nobody’s business!!! My memories embrace the always super energetic and excitable family friend that was more Preston than just about any of us. He loved family, was a great correspondent, and oozed being Proud on so many levels. I’ll never forget the day he had me join his high school football team at practice. I was a college freshman at the time but Johnny told his coach our family was moving back to Michigan and I’d be playing in the Fall. The coaches were beaming thinking they’d hit pay dirt and Johnny just kept smiling and smiling. Man o’ man he loved his football. I have many great memories of the Preston summer’s in Michigan – especially the extended family gatherings at Portage Lake (I think that was the lake?). Softball games and the laughter…Doug and my father Jim leading the charge…the Preston’s can laugh….really loud!!! Sorry to lose you Johnny at such a young age but I sense God has better plans for you. See you on the other side buddy. Love your cousin Tom.
