
Joel “Coy” Moreno, Sr., 61, of Fremont, OH passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA. He was born on October 14, 1953 in Harlingen, TX, the son of Toribio and Anastacia (Hernandez) Moreno.
Joel married Ermalinda Gonzales in 1974 in Green Springs, OH and she survives. Joel worked for Kelsey Hayes Foundry for twenty-three years until it closed. He was currently working as an Independent Truck Driver for the past fifteen years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Joel enjoyed working in his yard. He loved driving his truck and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Joel is survived by his wife of forty years, Ermalinda Moreno, Fremont, OH; children, Sylvia (Cody) Harris, St. Louis, MO, Lydia (Richard) Messer, Fremont, OH, Janel (Ryan Jenkins) Moreno, Cincinnati, OH and Joel Moreno, Jr, Fremont, OH; siblings, Efran “Frank” (Rosia) Moreno, Elida Risner and Johnny Moreno, all of Fremont, OH and Adolfo (Christina) Moreno, Port Clinton, OH; grandchildren, Jordon Messer, Derek Gahn, Dilon Messer, Drew Gahn, Mariah Messer, Wyatt Harris, Lucy and Ivan Jenkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, November 6, 2014, 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, with Fr. Kenneth Lill officiating.
