Harris Joan resize 3

Joan Frances (Caldwell) Harris made the journey to be with the Lord and her parents on January 13, 2021.  She was 80 years old.  Born in Fremont Ohio, Joan was the daughter of Lucille Edna Caldwell and William Hamilton.  Husbands included Connie Knighton, Johnny Jones, Micky Walters and John Harris Jr.  Sister of Anna Mae Caldwell Smith and Lucille “Nadine” (George) Caldwell Phillips.  Mother of Desiree (Bill) Knighton Subsara.  Step Mother of Lou “Alveria” Harris.  Special Love sent out to Uncle Charley and Aunt Sadie Erner.

Joan worked for the Ohio Turnpike Plaza, General Electric Bellevue, OH, RCA Findlay, OH, Quickcut, Fremont, OH, Eaton Controls and Fremont Plastics where she retired from.  She also helped cook ribs with her best friend, Mae McKinstry.

While working at the Ohio Turnpike Plaza, she met many famous people passing through including BB King and Mahlia Jackson.  She also met Stevie Wonder, who was the nephew of Mae McKinistry.

Joan enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, canning, puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, bingo and going to the casino.  She loved her dogs and cats.  Her favorite music included jazz, soul and the blues.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Other family members include grandchildren; Richard Knighton, William Subsara, Tyishica Harris, Chaonna Young, Tellys Young, David Young.  Several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also remain.  Great grandchild, Candy Knighton, helped care for Joan in her final years.

She was a hardworking, loving woman and will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to recognize Heartland Hospice for their kind care of Joan in her final days.  We are very grateful to Dr. Mary Bower for her care and treatment for Joan over the years.  We also would like to thank Luz Galirdo with Aging Passports for all of her help and support over the years

To My Beloved Mother,

You were always a bright shining light in my life, inside and out.  You never failed me. You were not only my Mother, but also my best friend.  You guided me and taught me things that only you could do.  I will always Love you from the bottom of my heart to the top and beyond.  You’ve always made me proud to call you “Mom”.

Love Always and Forever,

Your Loving Daughter, Desiree

    Des Nadine & family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your friendship through the years have a special place in my heart. At the time we met, my mom was transitioning into eternity. May your mom find rest and comfort now in HIS arms, and may you find rest and comfort in knowing that she is with Jesus.
