
James W. Armentrout, 88, of Fremont, OH passed away on May 28, 2023 at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont, OH. He was born on April 18, 1935 in Lima, OH the son of Marvel Armentrout and Elnora (Fowler) Hartley. Jim married Leona R. Carroll on November 17, 1953 in Angola, IN and she preceded him in death on August 9, 2021. Jim was a supervisor at Nickels Bakery for thirty-nine years until he retired on December 1, 1996. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating. He was also a coin collector and was a member of the Fostoria coin club.
Jim is survived by his children, Elnora (Rick) Davis and Kimberly Vorhes both of Lima, OH, Greg (Rita) Armentrout, Fremont and Janice Haas, Helena; sister, Lorretta Williams of Michigan; eight grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Leona Armentrout, stepfather, Ed Hartley; stepmother; Charlotte Armentrout, siblings, Frank Armentrout and Judy Hunter.
Visitation: Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with an hour of visitation prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
