
James E. Oman, 84, of Fremont, OH passed away Saturday February 7, 2015 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born May 17, 1930 in Fremont to Floyd T. and Edith (Clark) Oman.
Jim served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict. He married Joanne Flahiff on October 21, 1950 at St Joseph Catholic Church. Jim worked for Price Lumber which then became Appleby Lumber for sixty-five years making cabinets. He continued to make beautiful wood cabinets and furniture after his retirement. Many homes in Fremont are more beautiful by his woodworking. Jim was a founding member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed reading, camping, gardening and working in the yard.
Jim is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Joanne Oman; children, Deborah (Michael) Benton, Fremont, OH, Michael Oman, Grove City, OH, Jeffrey (Linda) Oman, Sheryl (Joseph) Watts, Karen (Randy) Charles, Lori Bloom all of Fremont, OH; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and special puppy, Taffy.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; siblings, Richard Oman, Eleanore Crozier, Florence Walters, Katherine Root, Betty Goodwin and granddaughter, Sara Bookman.
Visitation: Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, February 11, 2015; 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH.
