
James Bertus, Hill, Sr., 75, of Fremont passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 surrounded by his family at Elmwood Healthcare Center at The Springs in Green Springs, OH. He was born December 17, 1940 in Findlay, OH to Myron W. and Lottie L. (Yoakum) Hill.
Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He married Charlotte Detterman on November 25, 1964 in Maryland and she survives.
Jim worked at Dayton Marine in Fremont for eighteen years. He then worked at Fremont Battery for five years. Lastly he was a Cook at McDonald’s for fourteen years. He retired in 2008. Jim volunteered at various organizations and enjoyed fishing, camping, flea markets, NASCAR, BBQ’s, the outdoors and feeding the birds.
Jim is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Charlotte Hill, Fremont, OH; children, Janine K. Hill and Jeffrey Hill both of Fremont, OH, James Hill, Jr., Perrysburg, OH; siblings, Ivan Hill, Tiffin, OH and Ruth Wise, Green Springs, OH; grandchildren, Jon, James, Justin, Austin, Alexis and Kimber Hill and Sabrina Stine; great grandchildren, Serena and Vincent Stine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Myron, William, Melvin, John, David and Barbara Hill.
Visitation: Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 N. Broadway St., Green Springs, OH.
Service: Saturday, July 16, 2016: 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family.
