Howard “Bobbie” McDonald, 70, of Fremont, OH passed away, Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, OH. He was born September 18, 1942 in Paulding, MS to Manuel and Lillie Mae (Lindsey) McDonald. Bobbie was a 1961 graduate of South Side High School in Heidelberg, Mississippi.

Bobbie married Joan Robbins on September 12, 1964 in Fremont, OH at Warren AME Chapel and she survives. He worked for Kelsey Hayes and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. Bobbie was a highway and park caretaker for over twenty years, retiring in 2004.

Bobbie was a member of the NAACP and the Fremont Moose Lodge. He enjoyed being outdoors where he loved to BBQ out in the alley and telling stories of his family history. Bobbie also enjoyed fishing, listening to blue grass and blues. He was a friend to many and would help those in need but more importantly he was very dedicated to his family.

Bobbie is survived by his wife, Joan McDonald; children, Clifton, Mark, David (Heather), Darlene McDonald, all of Fremont and Jeffrey McDonald, Ashburn VA; siblings, Orie (Aserlean) McDonald, Fremont, OH, Clifton (Alma) McDonald, Stringer, MS, Lois (Lewis) Campbell, Louin, MS, Jessie (Sam) Jones, Mildred (Wallace) Pierce, both of Heidelberg, MS, Evelyn (Reverend Marvin) Evans, Laurel, MS, Sherry (Sammie) Moss, Lisman, AL and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Manuel McDonald, Jr., David and Billy Joseph McDonald.

Visitation: Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH 43420.

Service: Wednesday, March 27, 2013, Noon at the funeral home with Minister Lorna McKinstry officiating.

Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
