
Helen K. Carmack, 88, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Elmwood Communities in Fremont. She was born on August 17, 1931 in Riley Township to Alton and Mary (Reardon) Hofelich.
Helen married James R. Carmack on February 19, 1955 at St. Ann Rectory by Fr. McCullen and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2005. She was a secretary for the Sandusky County Farm Bureau (now Country Springs Co-Op) and retired in 1994.
Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Rosary Alter Society. She was a volunteer in the school cafeteria and for funeral lunches for many years. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose. Helen loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a loyal Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Indians fan.
Helen is survived by her sons, Thomas (Mary Jean) Carmack, Steven “Fred” Carmack, Scott (Colleen) Carmack and Timothy Carmack, all of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Jim, Breanne, Justin, Jodi and Kara Carmack; great grandchildren, Kamryn and Keegan Carmack and a great granddaughter due in May.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James R. Carmack; brother Robert Hofelich and sisters, Jane Flahiff and Irene Foos.
The family would like to thank Elmwood Communities and ProMedica Hospice for their compassionate care given to Helene.
Visitation: Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH with a vigil at 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, February 6, 2020; 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH with an hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
