
Helen F. Nickelson, 87, of Fremont, OH passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH. She was born on May 26, 1934 in Pikeville, KY, the daughter of Clarence and Orene (Jones) Thornbury. She was a graduate of Feds Creek High School in Feds Creek, KY. Helen married Daniel Nickelson in 1971 in Clintwood, VA and he preceded her in death in 1986. She was a homemaker and a salesclerk at Wal-Mart for many years. Helen was a member of the Church of Christ and Women’s Group for the church. She was also a member of Golden Threads. Helen loved her dog, Rusty.
Helen is survived by her children, Ray (Beth) Ramey, Perrysburg, OH, Paul (Pam) Ramey, Fremont, OH; siblings, Raymond Thornbury of Fremont, Ben Thornbury of Kentucky, Roger Thornbury of New Carlise, OH and Nolan Hunt of Kentucky; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel Nickelson; son, Timothy Ramey; siblings, Bill and Clarence Thornbury and Shirley Owens.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Services: Wednesday, September 8, 2021; 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
