
Harold “Sonny” William Franks, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born December 26, 1931 in Riley Twp. to Doris (Keegan) Franks. Harold married Carol Haubert on July 19, 1969 at St. John’s Lutheran Church and she survives. He worked for thirty-nine years and fifty-one weeks at the Fremont Water Pollution Control Center and retired on February 7, 1996.
Harold was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Gideon International. He was a Lay Minister at St. Francis Rehab Center for many years. Harold enjoyed collecting antique coins, toys and postcards, camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Carol Franks, Fremont, OH; children, Amy (Joel) Boling, Port Clinton, OH, Rebecca (Mark) Humbert and Deanna (Myron) Jacobs both of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Starr Beckman, Ethan Humbert, McKenna Boling, Tristan Boling, Jena Humbert and Hunter Jacobs; siblings; Barbara McCoy and Judy Cunningham both of Fremont, OH, Betty Jo Heschel, Tiffin, OH and Peggy Jo Eberly, Green Springs, OH;
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Nancy Brunner, Sandy Miller, Alvin, James, Lester and Raymond Franks.
Visitation: Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Services: Monday, May 10, 2021, 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 212 N. Clover St, Fremont, OH with Pastor Matt Wheeler officiating with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
The use of face masks is required while indoors.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
Memorials can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Gideon International.
