Gerard “Jerry” N. Brickner

Gerard “Jerry” N. Brickner, 84, of Fremont, OH passed away at his home on Thursday, August 7, 2014. He was born September 7, 1929 in Huron County, OH, the son of Raphael G. and Olga M. (Schreiner) Brickner. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Wendelin Catholic High School in Fostoria, OH.

Gerard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from January 17, 1951 to December 15, 1952. He married Joyce M. Molnar on September 3, 1955 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gibsonburg, OH and she survives.

Gerard worked at Peter Eckrich Company and retired after twenty-three years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Izaac Walton League in Tiffin, OH, #196 R.C.T. South Dakota Unit and the American-Czech & Slovak Dance Club in Millbury, OH. Gerard was an avid hunter especially deer and turkey hunting. He enjoyed the outdoors, yard work, birds, traveling and history. He volunteered at Share and Care and Sacred Heart School for many years.

Gerard is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Joyce M. Brickner, Fremont, OH; children, Michael (Marcy) Brickner, Fremont, OH, Patricia A. Montgomery, Toledo, OH, Gregory G. Brickner, Fremont, OH; siblings, Raphael Brickner and Germaine (Roger) Geyman both of Findlay, OH, Roberta (James) Shaver, Tiffin, OH, Harold (Virginia) Brickner, Carey, OH and Paul (Carol) Brickner, Fostoria, OH; grandchildren, Nicholas Sr., Adam and Rayanne and great grandson, Nicholas Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Brickner.

Visitation: Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, August 12, 2014; 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH with Fr. Kenneth Lill officiating.

Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH with military honors provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.
