
Faye A. Mayer, 79, of Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH. She was born March 3, 1937 in Fremont, the daughter of Carl K. and Amilda E. (Nahm) Longanbach. She was a 1955 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
Faye married William “Bill” G. Mayer, Jr. on May 17, 1958 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Fremont and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2016. Faye worked at Ford Motor Company prior to her marriage and then as a playground aide at Lutz Elementary School for several years. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Faye was also a member of the Fremont Eagles and former member of the Moose, VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries. She enjoyed canning, baking, putting together puzzles, reading and cross word puzzles. Faye loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching QVC and traveling.
Faye is survived by her children, Diana (Larry) Myers, Fremont, Kenneth Mayer, Kettering, OH, Patricia (Robert) Kerr, Fremont and Barbara “Bunnie” (James) Vischer, Genoa, OH; siblings, Richard (Pat) Longanbach of Michigan and Thomas (Charmaine) Longanbach, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Kyle (Ashley) Myers, Cody Myers, Marianna and Benjamin Mayer, Nathan, Brook and Marcus Kerr, J.C. and Josh Vischer; great grandchildren, Kole, Kase and Knox Myers and Adalyn Kerr; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William “Bill” G. Mayer, Jr.
Visitation: Friday, August 26, 2016 from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Service: Saturday, August 27, 2016, 10:00 am with a half hour of visitation prior to the service at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 902 East State St, Fremont, with Certified Funeral Celebrant Susann Robitski Zimmerman officiating.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery
