
Evelyn M. Eakin, 96, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. She was born November 11, 1921 in Fremont, the daughter of Cletus C. and Loyola (Reihl) Malkmus.
Evelyn married Robert A. Eakin on June 11, 1942 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2005. She worked as a clerk in admitting at Memorial Hospital for eight years and later worked as a volunteer at the hospital gift shop.
Evelyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; the Catholic Rader’s of Columbia-Marian Society, Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and twenty-five year member of the Child Development Club. She also delivered Mobile Meals for over thirty years. Evelyn enjoyed attending the YMCA Senior Classes and numerous Pot Lucks. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo but mostly loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Janet (Mike) Michalski, Toledo, OH, Lee Eakin, Jacksonville, FL, Joe (Wendy) Eakin and Jerry (Robbyn) Eakin both of Fremont, OH; daughter-in-law, Linda Eakin, Fremont, OH; brother, Fremont, OH; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family would like to recognize her team of aides that gave Evelyn outstanding care within her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert A. Eakin; sons, Aaron, Howard and Terry Eakin; brothers, Robert and Howard Malkmus and granddaughter, Sheila Eakin.
Memorial Mass: Tuesday, July 3, 2018, 10:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont, OH 43420, with visitation from 9:30 – 10:00 am at church prior to the Mass.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools.
