
Eugene “Gene” L. Ohm, 84, formerly of Fremont, OH passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Genacross Lutheran Services-Wolf Creek Campus in Holland, OH where he has resided for the past three years. He was born October 2, 1932 in Port Clinton, OH, the son of Jacob and Clara (Hermes) Ohm. He was a 1950 graduate of Port Clinton High School.
Gene married Patricia A. Luebcke on November 14, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Church in Port Clinton and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2011.
Gene first worked at Travelers Insurance in 1952 in Port Clinton. He then owned and operated Gene Ohm Insurance and also was a Real Estate agent for Executive Turn Key in Fremont from 1965 until he retired in 2009. Gene loved all sports especially golf and Notre Dame Football. Gene was a fifty-year member of the Elks Lodge, joining in 1953 and a member of
K of C where he joined in 1950. He was active as a Fremont St.Joe booster and served as a past President.
Gene is survived by his sons, Bryan (Chris) Ohm of Maumee, OH, Paul Ohm of Chicago Il.; daughters, Christine (Steve) Guyer of Cincinnati, OH, Connie Gabel of Fremont, OH; brother, Gary Ohm, Port Clinton, OH; grandchildren, Chelsea, Shaina and Olivia Ohm, Kyle, Kent and Vince Guyer, Tyler and Alexa Gabel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia A. Ohm and sister, Patricia Mazur.
Visitation: Friday March 24, 2017 from 12:00PM till 2:00 PM at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH 43420. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Chris Kardzis officiating.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
Memorials: Contributions to Port Clinton High School Boosters Club.

My husband and I had the privilege of sharing dinner hour at Creekside for a few months before Gene was transferred to Assisted Living. Even there, after my husband was placed at Assisted Living, we would see Gene in that dining room.
Gene always had a smile. It was a pleasure to have known him, even if for such a short time.
