
Eldon E. Shiets, 83, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Toledo ProMedica Hospital. He was born on November 27, 1935 in Fremont, OH to Joseph and Loretta (Giebel) Shiets. Eldon was a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School.
Eldon married Eilene Blouir and she preceded him in death On February 13, 2003. Eldon worked in maintenance for Kelsey Hayes, Fremont Foundry, for forty-two years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a Life Member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, playing the harmonica, playing cards at the Senior Center, fishing and gardening. He loved his dog Image.
Eldon is survived by his children, Andy (Laura) Shiets, Fremont, OH, Randy Shiets, Toledo, OH, Anthony (Linda) Shiets, Fremont, OH; step son, Jack Hashman, Fremont, OH; brother, Ed Shiets, Bellevue, OH; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wives, Eilene Shiets and Darlene Shiets; infant daughter, Theresa Shiets; step daughters, Brenda and Debbie Hashman; step granddaughter, Brandy Hashman; siblings, Don, Norb, Gerald, Helen, Rosemary, Evelyn, Paul and Roman.
Visitation: Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at 6 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, February 1, 2019, 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Chris Kardzis officiating with an hour of visitation prior to mass.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
