
Elaine “Sis” I. Ruggiero, 97, of Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Elmwood Care Center. She was born on December 28, 1925 in Helena, OH to William and Lorena (Auxter) Wonderly. Sis was a graduate of Jackson Burgoon High School. Sis married Carmin Donato Ruggiero on June 5, 1948 at St. Mary’s Church in Millersville, OH and he preceded her on November 3, 2011. Prior to getting married, she worked for Union Carbide and Robert F. Wolfe Company. Sis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, especially Euchre, ceramic making, sewing and taking care of her home and family.
Sis is survived by her children, Pat (Jayne) Ruggiero, Gettysburg, PA, Cindy (Philip) Tooman, Sam (Cindy Lynn) Ruggiero, both of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Cathy, Henry, Carmin II, Heather, Tyler, Brent, Sam Jr, Maegen; great grandchildren, Emma, Trey, Alayna, Victoria, Charlee, Dominic, Ella, Hunter, Donato Grant, Siobhan, Eddie, Taylor, Kylie, Alise, Callen, Michael and brother, Pat Wonderly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Donald Wonderly, Robert Wonderly and JoAnn Hofelich.
Family would like to give a special thanks to Elmwood Care Center for the loving care they provided Elaine during her stay.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary Service beginning at 7 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 865 OH-635, Helena, OH 43435.
Burial: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Millersville, OH.

I remember Elaine and Carmin when they were our neighbors on Alger st . They would crush grapes in their garage/ wine room .. I always enjoyed watching them do that .. So sorry for your loss Pat, Cindy, Sam and families. Sis was a great Aunt that left a lot of good memories along with Uncle Carmin. We’ll never forget many things including the impromptu baby sitting for our 2, 4 and 6 yr old when Michelle was sick in 1993. That was quite a task!
