Duncan James Moor, 29, of Fort Lauderdale, FL passed away on November 26, 2021, at Broward Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. He was born April 9, 1992, in Findlay, OH, and the son of John and Marty (Wolf) Moor. At the time of his passing, his mother Marty was at his side, holding his hand, and reminding him how much he was loved.
Duncan was, like his younger brother, Graham, a chosen child, who came to share a permanent place in the hearts of his grateful parents on May 18, 1992, when he was five-weeks old.
Duncan, a 2009 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, loved the water, the beach, and warm weather, which drew him to Florida where he worked in food service. In his spare time, he was able to pursue his love of water sports—jet skiing, water skiing and fishing.
His brother Graham remembers him as caring and protective and one who possessed fantastic comedic timing. He marched to the beat of a different drummer—at times to his own detriment—but he never lost his willingness to help others or to offer support for those who struggled, too. Friends and loved ones knew that at his core, he was a kind and charismatic person who left too early, never realizing fully his potential or the value of his gift to others.
He was never able to find the happiness he sought, but he did find peace.
Duncan is survived by his parents, John and Marty Moor, Fremont, OH; brother Graham Moor, Dayton, OH; aunts, Lynn (John) Duncan, Olathe, KS; Lora Wolf and Mary Wolf, both of Petoskey, MI; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Edmee “Clocky” Moor; grandparents, Tom and Evie Wolf; uncles Tommy Wolf and Stephen Brundage; and cousin Mark Strausbaugh II.
Visitation: Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Certified Funeral Celebrant, Susann Robitski Zimmerman officiating.
Memorials can be made to The Community Fortress (a Fremont homeless shelter).
The family requests that visitors please wear masks.

You touched my heart in 1992 when you two chose Duncan to be your son while I was employed at BGSU Firelands. My husband, Al, was also a “chosen child” in 1950 and we are forever grateful to his parents for the way they raised him and the opportunities they provided for him.
Our hearts go out to you as you cope with the tragic loss of your son at such a young age.
Take care my friend,

I was shocked and saddened when learning about Duncan’s passing at such a young age. He was one of the most exuberant and challenging students that I had but it sounds like he was able to find and enjoy the things that he loved the most. As parents you never gave up on him or stopped looking for the best way to help him succeed. Losing a child is one of life’s deepest sorrows. I am so sorry for your loss.

To the Moor Family,
When I heard the name Duncan, his smiling and mischievous face always came to my mind. Duncan was an amazing student who I had the specialty of working with. Deep down, he connected with many, but didn’t want to show it. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. He will always be remembered by those he touched so deeply.
