
Dorothy J. Neiling, 80, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH. She was born February 29, 1936 in Berwyn, IL to Thomas H. and Lena M. (Johann) Bates. She was a 1954 graduate of Notre Dame Academy and received an RN Degree from St. Vincent School of Nursing.
Dorothy married James E. Neiling on June 28, 1958 at St. Rose Church in Perrysburg, OH and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2013.
Dorothy was a Registered Nurse and worked at Quality Care (Valley View) Nursing Home in Fremont. She then went to work at St. Francis Healthcare Center in Green Springs. Dorothy retired from St. Bernadine Sisters of Mercy in 2001. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a Eucharist Minister and also sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Blessed Sacred Heart Confraternity. Dorothy was a volunteer at Heartbeat and Share & Care. She enjoyed singing in the choir, cross stitching, daily walks and gardening.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Peter (Lori) Neiling, Fremont, OH, David Neiling of Custar, OH, Steven (Sheryl) Neiling of Fremont, OH, Joel Neiling, of Rudolph, OH, Andra (Vic) Josifov, Rittman, OH, Marje (Dennis) Trevino of Waterville, OH, Sara (Pat) Shanahan of Fremont, OH; siblings, Kenneth P. (Sylvia) Bates of Whitney Pt., NY, Margaret (Terry) Feehan of Custar, OH, Doris Turner of Perrysburg, OH, Rose Mary (Andrew) Kandik of Waterville, OH, Mary Frances (Gene) Abbott of California and Angela (Keith) Dallas of Bowling Green, OH; fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. Neiling; son, Mark Allen Neiling; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Rita Bates.
Visitation: Sunday from 2 – 5 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, October 3, 2016, 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH.
Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery
