
Doris A. Ackerman, 83, of Fremont, OH passed away on November 16, 2022 at The Convalarium of Dublin in Dublin, OH. She was born on April 30, 1939 in Gibsonburg, OH the daughter of Joseph C. and Rosa (Bundschuh) Immel. She was a 1957 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and attended The Ohio State University and Tiffin University. She married James Leroy Ackerman on October 22, 1959 at St. Michael Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1999.
Doris was a bookkeeper for many years at Joseph’s Department Store and then worked at Croghan Colonial Bank and Paw Patch. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Fremont Moose. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, knitting, baking and playing euchre. Doris was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavs, and Ohio State fan. She enjoyed listening to classic rock and loved her dogs.
Doris is survived by her children, Douglas (Beth) Ackerman, Denver, NC, Terry Williams, Blanchester, OH, Dan (Debbie) Ackerman, Denver, NC and Amy (Jesse) Bayless, Plain City, OH; grandchildren, Ryan, Kristina, Sarah, Drew, Lauren, Trevor and Cameron.
She is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Mary Immel; siblings, Vincent, Warren, Walt, Richard and Willie Immel, Florence Somers, and Marilyn Bisping.
Visitation: Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, December 10, 2022; 11:00 a.m. St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont, OH
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery
