
Donald W. “Bud” Batesole, 93, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH. He was born August 10, 1925 in Sandusky County, the son of William and Catherine (Flahiff) Batesole. He was a graduate of Ross High School.
Bud served in the U.S. Navy as a Quartermaster from November 1944 to July 1946 and was awarded the American Area Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He married Pauline Anna Meyer on July 19, 1947 in Fremont and she preceded him in death on July 30, 2013.
Bud managed the Erlin Grain Elevator for thirty years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion, AMVETS and Future Farmers of America. He enjoyed farming on the side and was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed working for Baker and Bonningson Auctioneers in his retirement. Bud never meet a stranger and loved to talk to people.
Bud is survived by his children, Michael (Judy) Batesole, The Villages, FL, Barbara (Bill) Reineck, Fostoria, OH, Bonnie Phillips, Reynoldsburg, Oh and Phillip (Beverly) Batesole, Fremont, OH; siblings, Gerald (Ruby) Batesole, Sandusky, OH, Catherine Witter, Port Clinton, OH and Elizabeth Stang, Fremont, OH; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of sixty-six years, Pauline Anna Batesole; siblings, Margaret (Jim) Perry, Rosalyn (Bud) Miller, Ruth (Rollin) Hawk, Daniel Batesole and James (Judy) Batesole; brothers-in-law, Don Stang and Dan Witter; and granddaughter, Melissa Phillips.
Visitation: Wednesday from 5 – 8 pm with a vigil at 7:30 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, December 20, 2018, 11:30 a.m., Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH
Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont
