Dennis E. Johnson
Dennis E. Johnson, 76, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Parkview Care Center. He was born on August 6, 1945 in Fremont to Elmer and Ella Mae (Stickle) Johnson. Dennis served in the U.S. Army from October 12, 1965 to September 22, 1967 and was awarded National Defense Service Medal and Marksman Rifle. He married Rosemary Beard on December 28, 1965 in Fremont.
Dennis was an independent truck driver, hauling steel, since the late 1960’s. He retired in 2008 and then drove for Trips, retiring in 2019. Dennis was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on semis, playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, old westerns and car restoration shows. Dennis also enjoyed anything about old trains. He loved his dogs Molly and JoJo.
Dennis is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Rosemary Johnson, Fremont, OH; children, Todd (Jackie) Johnson, Fremont, OH, Michelle (George Suddeth IV) Steriti, Columbus, OH, Chad (Billie Jo) Johnson, Arlington, Washington, Shari (Mike Westerman) Johnson, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Brittany (Mike) Garlock, Kaitlyn Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Anna Steriti, Madelyn Johnson, Emily (Jaret) Phillips, Devin Johnson, and Alex Steriti; three great-grandchildren; Brother, Rev. Larry Johnson; twin sister, Darlene (Robert) Stalnaker; sister-in-law, Lisa Pfeiffer, and numerous nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Nick Steriti.
Visitation: Monday, January 31, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH
Service will begin at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Bailie officiating. Military Honors will follow after the service.
Family requests that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing. No suits and ties please. Casual attire only.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family or to Ohio Living Hospice, 1730 S. Reynolds Rd, Toledo, OH 43614.
