David LeRoy Martin, Sr.

Martin David ADJUSTED

David LeRoy Martin Sr., 84 of Fremont met his Lord and Savior Feb. 2, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born November 2, 1937 to the late James F. and Vera (Peck) Martin.  David was a foreman at Northern Ohio Sugar Co., a self-employed contractor, Pastor of Open Door Tabernacle and Minister of the gospel.  On April 7, 1955 he married the love of his life, Patricia M. David enjoyed spending time in God’s Word and sharing the Good News with everyone he met.  He ministered at Victory Church where he was a faithful member.
David enjoyed sports of any kind; fishing, golfing, bowling, and watching the Buckeyes, Browns, and Indians.  However, his true passion was being around his swimming pool with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of sixty-seven years, Pat Martin, Fremont, OH; children, David (Brenda) Martin Jr., Debbie (Bob) Gardner, Cathy (Rick) Warwick, Mike (Joy) Martin, Amy (Ted) Merrill; siblings, Violet (Larry) Fredrick, Nancy DeLiberto, Gloria (Ray) Eversole, Roxanna (Roy)Twigg, Becky Adams; thirteen grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, James Martin Jr., Joyce (Buck) Twigg, Sharon (Tony) Mira, Linda Meyer; brothers-in-law, Carl DeLiberto and Danny Adams; Mother and Father-in-law, Russell and Mildred Brown; brother-in-law, David Brown; sisters-in-law, Lynne (Bob) Harpel, Joan (Jim) Healy and Sandy (Roy) Lehman.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb.11, 2022, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Victory Church, 2051 Oak Harbor Rd, Fremont, OH.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 beginning at Noon with an hour of visitation held prior to the service at Victory Church.

Burial will be privately held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to Victory Church or Hospice of ProMedica Memorial Hospital.

Grief is overshadowed by the deep Truth within… My mind explodes with love and joy, knowing that Pastor Dave is in Heaven surrounded by everything we can only read about in Gods Word. He is there.
Visiting Ohio will not be the same without him here. Dave and Pat have a special place in my heart. There love for eachother is an example of the love of Christ… Faithful, Loyal, Strong, and Enduring.
In Dave’s weakest moments, the Fire of the Holy Spirit was active! His Spirit man was unquenchable. I witnessed it. I’ll never forget it.
Dave is/was a true and faithful disciple.. representing our Father in word and deed.
I’ll think about Dave often. I know all who know him will do the same…. and in a little bit, we will be reunited…. forever and ever around the throne of Jesus, worshipping our Lord and Saviour. OH how I LOVE YOU DAVE!
Anchored in Gods Promise…. “I’ll see you next time”

What an amazing person and what a remarkable life. I feel so lucky that Dave was part of my family, every time I would see him he never once turned his head and walked away , he would always ask about my family as if I was one of his kids. Thanks Dave for all the kind words you have given to me, And the the harsh warning about choosing the wrong path in his thought with out sugar, you did have a impact on my life.. Mom says she loved you and will always remember the conversations about the beauty in the silver hair.

Such a great loss to the world. Uncle Dave was an awesome man, loved by all! My daddy says he was the hardest working man he’s ever worked with in a roof. I will always cherish the times I got to spend swimming in the pool while in Ohio in the summers. I’m so glad my son got to do the same thing last summer, even just for a little while. I am praying for Aunt Pat and all all the kids broken hearts, a pain I know too well. I know my Mama was there to great him with open arms! ❤️ Rest in the arms of Jesus, Uncle Dave. You will never be forgotten.

All the accolades mentioned here don’t compare with what Dave heard when he entered the presence of the Lord. His life touched generations. What a wonderful man, what a wonderful legacy.
