
David E. Bender, 78, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital. He was born February 6, 1938 in Sandusky, OH, the son of Kermit and Eulalia (Reiter) Bender, Sr. He was a 1957 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
David served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He married Janet Mascari on May 10, 1969 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and she survives. David worked for the Carpenters Union for many years and retired in 2003. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and enjoyed watching sports. David loved to spend time in the shop.
David is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Janet Bender, Fremont, OH; son, Anthony (Deborah Estep) Bender, Findlay, OH; granddaughter, Tawnie (Levi) Bishop, Findlay, OH; siblings, Robert Bender, Clyde, OH Mary (Norm) Frey, London, OH, Kathy Bender, Newark, OH, Regina Holland, Columbus, OH, John (Carol) Bender, Fremont, OH, Sheila Lucas and Joe (Ginny) Bender both of California; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kermit Bender, Jr. and sister, Dorothy Zitelburger.
Visitation: Thursday from 4 – 8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Graveside Service: Friday, July 22, 2016, 11:00 am at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH with Fr. Nathan Bockrath officiating.
