David Allen Young
David Allen Young, 74, of Marblehead, OH passed away on February 17, 2022, with his wife and sweet daughter Alesha by his side. He was born on May 3, 1947, in Fremont, OH, the son of Raymond and Mary (Brudzinski) Young; the youngest of nine children. Dave’s elementary education was at Sacred Heart Catholic School. He graduated from Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic High School in 1965 where he helped the football team to an undefeated 27-0 record over three years!
Dave married his high school sweetheart Mary Ann (Foos) Young on November 5, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He worked at First Energy as a carpenter/maintenance supervisor where he retired on March 3, 2007. Dave was a carpenter literally and figuratively. He built his homes, cabin, and much more. He built his family on a foundation of faith and love. Dave enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, traveling, riding his Harley, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and spending quality time with his wife, family, and good friends.
Dave is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Mary Ann (Foos) Young; daughter, Angie (Chris) Merklin; sons, Doug (Wendy) and Brad (Jamie); daughter, Alesha Young; sisters, Phyllis Boucher, Rosalie (Bill) Rollins, and Pamela Phillips; brother, Raymond (Diane); 8 grandchildren, Hanna, Carlee, Alex, Elyse, Shane, Tyler, Taylor, and Brooke.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim, Joe, and John; sister, Mary Ann; and granddaughter, Payton Young.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home located at 425 E State St, Fremont, OH. A vigil prayer service will begin at 7:30.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 26, 2022; 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont, OH, Fr. James Brown will preside.
