
Charles E. Gillig, 75, of Kansas, OH passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Fremont. He was born February 3, 1939 in Tiffin, OH, the son of Robert and Helen Rose (Smith) Gillig.
Charles served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a farmer and formerly worked at Basic Refractory in Bettsville. He was also a Liberty Township employee.
Charles was a former member of St. Andrew’s Church, Liberty and a member of the Bettsville American Legion. He enjoyed antiques, saw sharpening, hunting, woodworking, gardening and attending SCRAP events, festivals and fairs.
Charles is survived by his siblings; Rose Marie Gillig and Marjory (Fred) Joseph both of Fremont, OH; nieces and nephews; Bob (Amy) Joseph, Westerville, OH, Mike (Sammie) Joseph, Grand Rapids, OH, Susan (Charles) Haubert and Bethany (Matt) Reed both of Fremont, OH; great nieces and nephews; Allison, James, Madeline and Anna.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. with a vigil at 6:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Service: Wednesday, October 15, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1021 W. State St, Fremont, OH with Fr. Michael Zacharias officiating.
Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Tiffin, OH
Memorials: Sandusky County Cancer Care Fund or Bettsville Volunteer Fire Dept.
