Carolyn Jeannine Fry

Carolyn Jeannine “Cee Jay, Skeeter” Fry passed away at the family home in Old Fort, OH on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the age of 72 after a battle with lung cancer. She was born in Kansas, OH on January 23, 1941 to Wayne J. and Clara Geraldine (Kissling) Thaxton.

Carolyn married Norman Lee Fry on August 10, 1963 at the Old Fort United Methodist Church. She attended Risingsun schools until she transferred to Jackson Liberty School and graduated in 1959. She went on to earn a license in Cosmetology, while always having a passion for nursing and a willingness to lend a helping hand. After working as a hairdresser and housewife for many years, she opened Cee Jay’s Hairstyling and Tanning in 1978 at the family home in Old Fort. She closed the business in 2011 as a result of her illness.

Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. She enjoyed dancing and having a good time socializing with her many friends. In the summer she could often be found at their vacation spot in Port Clinton, OH and enjoyed the winters in Florida. She was an avid supporter of the Old Fort community and spent countless hours promoting Old Fort Levies and the reverse raffle fundraiser. She was a member of Old Fort United Methodist Church. Carolyn enthusiastically enjoyed watching the Old Fort Stockader girls’ volleyball games.

Cee Jay is lovingly remembered by her husband of forty-nine years, Norman Lee Fry, Old Fort, OH; daughter, Wendy (Tim) Henige, Ontario, OH; sons, Bret (Beth) Fry, Fostoria, OH and Ryan (Jen) Fry, Pemberville, OH; grandchildren, Claire and Grace Henige, Austin and Tyler Fry (their mother, Michelle Hister), Mason and Michael Glaze; brothers, Glenn, Dale and Carl (Bonnie) Thaxton, all of Risingsun, OH; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Paul Thaxton and sister, Marilyn Thaxton Ponn Filhart.

Our family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to our family friend, Katie Henige for her amazing support and wisdom seeing us though this journey.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Horvath-Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 N. Broadway St, Green Springs, OH.

A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, February 18, 2013; 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Alice officiating.
