Byron “Babe” Overmyer
Byron “Babe” Overmyer, 97, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Autumwood Care Center in Tiffin, OH. He was born on November 27, 1917 in Fremont, the son of Lonnie and Martha Ruth (Hetrick) Overmyer.
Byron married Gurtha M. Zickafoose on July 26, 1943 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin and she preceded him in death on December 5, 2003.
Byron was a lifelong farmer. He truly loved farming and the outdoors. He also worked seasonally at Pioneer Sugar for over 20 years.
Byron is survived by his daughter, Corine R. Couch, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Heather (Michael) Mitchell, Delaware, OH, Melanie (John) Burns, Perrysburg, OH, Cheryl (Jeremy) Crump, Lakeview, OH; great grandchildren, Cody, Sara and Zachary Mitchell, Emily and Rebecca Burns and Gabriel Crump.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gurtha M. Overmyer; son-in-law, George A. Couch; brothers, Gilbert and Gordon Overmyer.
Visitation: Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Private Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery
