
Bernice Rose Saam, 95, formerly of Woodville, OH and Palm Harbor, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Bethesda Care Center. She was born February 18, 1924 in Cannonsburg, PA, the daughter of Claude Barber and Elsie (Lowers) Tucker. She was a 1942 graduate of Liverpool High School.
Bernice married Loren Saam on December 25, 1942 in Napoleon, OH and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2009. She was a telephone operator and homemaker.
Bernice was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville and Dendarah Court (Shriner Women of Toledo). Her hobbies included oil painting and ceramics. She was a traveler, covering most of the United States and some of Europe. Bernice loved her husband and family and enjoyed her home in Florida.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Judith (Larry) Overmyer, Fremont, OH, twin sons, Ronald (Kathleen) and Donald (Pamela) Saam both of Woodville, OH; brother-in-law, Robert Haefling, Tiffin, OH; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren Saam; sister, Audrey Haefling; grandson, Jacob Kwiatkowski; great granddaughter, Megan Elyse Overmyer; stepparents, Stirl Tucker and Vera Barber.
Visitation: Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 10:00 am until Noon at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH
Services will begin at Noon at the funeral home.
Burial: Four Mile House Cemetery
Memorials: ProMedica Hospice; Alzheimer’s Association of NW Ohio or Solomon Lutheran Church.
