
Bernard “Bernie” F. Nause, 95, of Fremont, OH passed away on January 21, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 14, 1927 in Fremont, OH the son of Clarence J. and Gertrude (Bauer) Nause. Bernie was a 1945 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Bernie married Grace Sidell on March 1, 2019 and she preceded him in death on December 12, 2022. He was a machinist at Union Carbide for thirty-five years until he retired in 1986. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eagles and a social member of V.F.W. Bernie enjoyed bowling, metal detecting, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family.
Bernie is survived by his children, Cathy (Tom) Ochs, The Villages, FL, John Nause, Cindy (Jamie) Vollmar, Thomas Nause all of Fremont, Richard Nause, Elmore and Lori (Greg) Farmer, Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Dawn (Rick) Souders, Tom (Andrea) Ochs, Melissa (Jason) Voorhees, John Nause, Ryan (Megan) Vollmar, Sam (Kristen) Vollmar, Jeremy Nause, Tracy Bowlus, Chrystal Nause, Tarah Nause, Aimee Smith, Allison Nause, Dannielle Nause, Lucas (Courtney) Farmer, Andrew Farmer, Michael Farmer; ten great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Grace Sidell Nause; son, Robert Nause; granddaughter, Rebbecca Ann Ochs; great granddaughters, Kaydance Amelia Bowlus and Sophia Marie Stout; siblings, Clarence “Bud” Nause, Merle Nause, Jenny Wammes, Dale Nause, Marcus Nause, Vernon Nause and Mary Ann Wheeler.
Visitation: Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, January 25, 2023; 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont
Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Heartbeat Hope Medical
