Albert Lee Mckinstry
Albert Lee McKinstry, 68, of Fremont, OH passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Toledo Hospital. He was born on October 18, 1952 in Paulding, MS, the son of Luther C. McKinstry Sr. and Corine (Stephens) Jones. He was a graduate of Heidelberg High School and attended Alcorn State University.
Al was a shipping clerk at National Can for over twenty-five years until he retired. He was instrumental in organizing the company sports teams. Al was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Fostoria. He played sports and achieved all state status in Mississippi and played football in college. He enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, listening to music, grilling and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Al is survived by his children, Mauricka McKinstry, Angela McKinstry, Taneshia Slater and Ashley Taylor, all of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Elijah, Tyleigah, Maurisah, Donald “Jr,”, Chantel, Jimmie, Sarah, Jerrod, Briandre; great grandson, Kasen; siblings, Luther (Dr. Pat) McKinstry, Toledo, OH, Lee (Lorna) McKinstry, Robert McKinstry, Lyndora Dukes, all of Fremont, OH, Willie McKinstry of MS, L.B. (Sonya) McKinstry of VA, Tommie Jones of MS, Troy (Lynette) Lindsey, Columbus, OH, Donelle McKinstry, Dayton, OH, Barbara Ann Stephens, Sherrie Stephens Keeler, Jerry Stephens, all of MS, Lee “Rusty” Chester Stephens, Jacksonville, FL, and a host of many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt and bonus mother, Mattie Stephens.
Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Service: Saturday, June 12, 2021; 11:00 a.m. at Greater St. James Church, 629 N. Sixth St., Fremont, OH with an hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
