
Albert Dale Cook, 95, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Valley View Health Campus, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 20, 1926 in Ballville Twp to Rollie and Mabel (Valentine) Cook. He was a 1944 graduate of Green Springs High School. Shortly after graduation he was drafted for WWII military service. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from June 13, 1944 through August 24, 1946 and was awarded the American Area Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal.
Albert married Ethella M. Hartenstein on October 1, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont. They shared sixty-four wonderful years together until she passed away on October 27, 2013.
After his discharge from the Navy, Albert worked for Clyde Porcelain & Steel, and eventually the Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde, where he retired on April 1, 1991. He also helped his father, brothers and nephew, Larry, worked the family farms.
Albert was one of the founding members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont and a member of the Sacred Heart choir. Albert was known for his love of family get togethers, yard work, traveling, walking, watching sports, and volunteering for his church. He especially liked driving around the neighborhood to see the farmers in the fields and look at the crops. Albert was very proud to have donated over 30 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.
Albert is survived by his fifteen children, Marsha of Fremont, Ronald (Norma) of Huron, Gene (Becky) of Clyde, Loraine (Mitch) Luman of Evansville, IN, Bruce of Saint Johns, FL, Andrea Carter of Fremont, Jude (Lisa) of Fremont, Christopher of Westerville, OH, Norman (Tess) of Fremont, Patrice (John) Beauchemin of Fairfax Station, VA, Dale (Anne) of Port Clinton, Karen Cook Weissinger of Fremont, Teresa (Kevin) Wasserman of Woodville, Scott (Denise) of North Lawrence, OH and Edward of Trotwood, OH; sister, Marilyn (Cook) Freeh of Fremont; twenty-nine grandchildren; Ryan, Emily, Austin, Jason, Kevin, Adam, Dean, Jeremy, David, Nathan, Tyler, Elijah, Kyle, Caroline, Keith, Travis, Natalie, Eric, Ellen, Andrew, Megan, Rachel, Jacob, Jared, Callie, Bennett, Ava, Danielle, Matthew and step-grandson, Cameron. He has twenty-three great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his in-laws, Paul (Evelyn) Hartenstein of Wakeman, Stephen (Carmela) Hartenstein and Judith Schleter of Tiffin, Gregory (Elaine) Hartenstein of Henrietta, NY, Patrick (Ann) Hartenstein of New Riegel, Michael (Sue) Hartenstein of Fremont and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethella M. Cook; infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth; his parents; brothers, Carl and Lester; sisters, Alice Walter and Dorothy Garland; granddaughters Brianna and Autumn Carter.
Visitation: Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.
The use of face masks is required while indoors at all services. Social distancing will be observed throughout all services with wait times taking place outdoors. Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, March 5, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.
Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the VFW and American Legion.
Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Church or the Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools.

Scott and Dale I used to talk too and the other hundred Cooks I’ve seen at Sacred Heart at various places and times.. I saw your dad at Valley View Jan 2020, playing cards. He was smiling and I thought he looked pretty happy. My sincere condolences to the family. Your dad and mom were involved with alot of stuff at Sacred Heart and other places.
