
Isabel (Valdez) Vara, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, May 6, 2021. She was born on April 30, 1932 in La Pryor, TX to Alberto and Victoria (Martinez) Valdez. Isabel married Mario E. Vara, Sr. on October 11, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiffin, OH and he preceded her in death on November 2, 2010. She was a custodian for the Fremont City Board of Education for over thirty years.
Isabel enjoyed flower gardening, dancing, Mexican music and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Hortensia (Jay) Clevenger, Huron, OH, Maria Vara, Fremont, OH, Mario (Cheryl) Vara, Jr., Flat Rock, MI, Diana Vara and Olivia (Thomas) Bauer both of Fremont, OH; brother, Alfred Valdez of California; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mario E. Vara, Sr.; son Rodolfo “Rudy” Vara; siblings, Juan Valdez, Jose Valdez, Maria Lopez and Armondo Valdez.
Visitation: Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH with a vigil service to follow.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, May 12, 2021; 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont, OH.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
Memorials: Alzheimer’s Association or American Diabetes Association.
