Vincent J. Camarata
Vincent J. Camarata, 92, of Fremont, OH, passed away on September 1, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Fremont, OH. He was born on October 27, 1921 in Akron, OH to John and Caroline (Schillace) Camarata. He served in the US Marines during WWII where he survived three invasions in the South Pacific. He married Catherine V. Oprie on May 14, 1945 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on March 11, 1996. He then married Colleen (Stoldt) Barton on April 16, 1999 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clyde and she survives.
Vince worked as a Progressive Press Operator for Ford Motor Company for twenty eight years until he retired. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont American Legion and Eagles. He enjoyed playing pinochle, traveling with the senior groups, fishing and gardening.
Vincent is survived by his wife, Colleen Camarata, Fremont; children, James J. (Cheryl) Camarata, Vincent L. (Dorothy) Camarata both of Fremont, OH, Richard A. (Nan) Camarata, Gibsonburg, OH, Nancy A. Hovis, Fremont, OH; stepson, Dennis E. (Vicki) Barton, Loganville, GA; eleven grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; three step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; siblings, Rose Burmeister, Gibsonburg, OH and Joseph Camarata of Colorado Springs, CO.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Josephine Seminerio, Nora Camarata, Frances Camarata, , Loretta Noonan, Louis Camarata, Samuel Camarata and Virginia Kania.
Visitation: Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home & Crematory, Fremont, OH with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, September 4, 2014; 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH with Fr. Kenneth Lill officiating.
Burial: Friday September 5, 2014: 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.
