Robert “Bob” J. O’Brien, 93, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully on Thursday,

May 4, 2017 at Elmwood Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing In Fremont. He has left his family, friends and community a legacy of love, kindness, honesty – and always – humor.

He was born July 10, 1923 in Toledo, OH to Luke H. and Josephine (Croy) O’Brien.

He was a 1940 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School.

Bob served in WW2 in the Navy as a radio technician on a sub-chaser in the Atlantic Ocean. He then served in the Korean War as a Sargent in the Marines.

Bob married Mary Eleanor “Ellie” Davis on July 6, 1946 in Johnstown, PA, and she

preceded him in death on November 16, 2016. In July 2016, Bob and Ellie were able to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary together. Bob and Ellie founded O’Brien

Realty and Insurance, which they owned and operated for over fifty years; he retired in 2000.

Bob was a founding member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member

of the VFW, American Legion, K of C 4th Degree, Elks, Eagles and Moose.

Bob is survived by his children, M.J. Maire (Jack Evans), James (Nancy) O’Brien

both of Fremont, OH, John (Julie) O’Brien, Milwaukee, WI and Kathleen (Henry)

Fukui, St. Paul, MN; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Bob’s wishes were for cremation and requested private services.

Memorials can be made in Bob’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research

Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriners Hospitals for

Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
