Jake S. Laughlin

Jake S. Laughlin, 74, of Burgoon, OH passed away surrounded by his family at his home on Sunday, February 26, 2017. He was born on April 7, 1942 in Blountville, TN the son of Sylvan and Margaret “Maggie” (Bright) Laughlin.

Jake married Marilyn Reif on November 23, 1973 in Bristol, TN and she survives. He worked for various Tree Services and then worked at the Fostoria Foundry until he retired.

Jake was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Fremont Moose. He enjoyed hunting with his coon dogs, gardening, working outside, cooking, baking, playing cards, watching Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Cash Explosion. He loved spending time with his family and loved his dog, Lady.

Jake is survived by his wife of over forty-three years, Marilyn Laughlin, Burgoon, OH; children, Jadie Laughlin (Mark Michaels), Fremont, OH and James (Jennifer) Laughlin, Oak Harbor, OH; sisters, Nancy (Leonard) Roller and Linda Whitaker both of Blountville, TN; grandchildren, Casey (Alesha) Blankenship, Clyde, OH, Courtney Laughlin, Toledo, OH and Carissa Conley, Fremont, OH; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Grady, Lloyd and Carl Laughlin; sisters, Loma King, Martha Whitaker and Jessie Whitaker.

Visitation: Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH. Service will follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor James Nevel officiating.

Memorials: Hospice of ProMedica Memorial Hospital or Salem United Methodist Church.
