Evelyn Ruth Stiger
Evelyn Ruth Stiger, 96, of Fremont, OH went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Galion, OH. She was born on July 27, 1916 in Fremont, the daughter of Charles and Elta (Tindall) Longanbach.
Evelyn married Clyde W. Stiger, Jr. on June 12, 1937 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rice Township and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1989.
Evelyn was a Homemaker and helped her husband on their farm. She also worked for Howard Zink’s and Nitschke’s Flowers. Evelyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and member of Women of The Church. She was a Charter member of Happy Larks Farm Council, a 4-H member and Advisor, Bide-A-Wee Farm Club and Countywide Garden Club. She was an avid participant of the Sandusky County Fair where she won many blue ribbons in baking and flower arranging.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Janice (Tom) Gledhill, Galion, OH; son, Gary D. (Vicki) Stiger, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Randy Johns, St. Joseph, MI, Greg (Linda) Johns, Oak Harbor, OH, Brad (Sandra) Johns, Kennewick, WA, Cary (Chris) Gardner, Charlotte, NC, David Stiger, Pacifica, CA, Abby Stiger, Louisville, KY; great grandchildren, Cassandra Johns, Marbelhead, OH, Lily Gardner and Evelyn Jay Gardner both of Charlotte, NC; four step grandchildren; eleven step-great grandchildren; special friends, Emily, Ann, Myra and Miriam; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde W. Stiger, Jr.; siblings, Franklin and Earl “John” Longanbach; grandson, Keith (Andrea) Johns.
Visitation: Sunday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, June 24, 2013, 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3077 CR 170, Fremont, OH with Pastor Keith Koppenhofer officiating.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery
